Dana Hauanio, Director
Dana Hauanio joined the MBDA Business Center Honolulu as project director in May 2007. Ms. Hauanio serves as advocate for the Honolulu minority business community, coordinates program initiatives, and works directly with clients. Previously, Ms. Hauanio served as the manager and senior loan officer at the Office of Hawaiian Affairs, overseeing funds of $28 million in the Consumer Micro-Loan Program and the Native Hawaiian Revolving Loan Fund. She also served as assistant vice president and business banking underwriter for Bay View Capital Corporation in California and as a small business banking representative for Bank of Hawaii. Ms. Hauanio holds a BBA in Business Administration from the University of Hawaii at Manoa and an MBA from Hawaii Pacific University. She is a graduate of Pearl City High School. Ms. Hauanio serves as board member of Hale Kuai, a cooperative that encourages Native Hawaiian craftsmanship and entrepreneurship. She also serves on the Council of Hawaiian Representatives for the Native Hawaiian Hospitality Association and is secretary of the Native Hawaiian Chamber of Commerce.
Chris Rachal, Business Development Manager
Chris Rachal joined the MBDA Business Center Honolulu as Business Development Manager in October 2013. He also teaches statistics at the University of Hawaii at Manoa, Shidler College of Business. Previously, Mr. Rachal did business development at Pixelated Industries, where his work included marketing, management, forecasting and procurement. He also worked for Solar Energy Hub, Baker Commodities Inc., Lanterman Developmental Center, Honda, Nissan, Real Estate Inspection Service and First American Funding. He holds a BA in Psychology from the University of Laverne and an MBA in International Business from the University of Hawaii at Manoa. He has the following certificates: Pacific Asian Management, Real Estate Principal, X-Ray Technician, Forestry and Welding.
Kelli Miura, Business Development Specialist
Kelli Miura joined the MBDA Business Center Honolulu as Business Development Specialist in August 2011. Previously, Ms. Miura worked as Communications Specialist for Hawaii Energy, the State Energy Conservation and Efficiency Program, and in the Health and Human Services Program Evaluation Field. She works with clients in many aspects of business and technical assistance, specializing in marketing and communications. She has written for various publications and is a former Honolulu Advertiser blogger. She holds a BA in Journalism and Sociology from the University of Hawaii at Manoa, and an MBA from Chaminade University of Honolulu. She is an honorary member of the Hogan Entrepreneurial Program, former board member for the Asian American Journalists Association (AAJA) – Hawaii Chapter, volunteer at Big Brothers Big Sisters Hawaii, and member of Phi Beta Kappa.
